Number of Sessions: 6

Description: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

So begins the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ longest sermon in the New Testament. And with these words, Jesus introduces us to a whole new way of living – Inside Out Living!

The sermon on the Mount is a blueprint for building the Christian life. The Sermon cover three chapters of the book of Matthew and includes the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus’ teachings about worry, forgiveness, integrity, loving our enemies, storing up treasures in heaven, and many other topics.

In this 6-week volume of our three-part series, Pastor Lance Witt of Saddleback Church will engage your small group in an enriching, verse-by-verse discussion of the Beatitudes, and living as salt and light, as found in Matthew 5:1-16.

Christian: It’s Not What You Think

5063_275-1Type: Video with member book

Number of Sessions: 8

Description: What does is mean to be Christian? Curiously, the term is never used in Scripture. Instead, Christian was a label used by outsiders to define Jesus’ followers. Jesus referenced ‘disciple’ as the key word he used to describe his supporters along with the fact that they would be known for their love — a novel concept for their time — and ours today. Through eight engaging and enlightening small group bible study sessions, Andy Stanley unpacks these qualities Jesus prescribes for his followers that made them unique. What if believers today embodied these traits? Would the non-believing world put aside its definition of ‘Christian’ and instead know us by our love?

Psalmist Cry: Scripts For Embracing Lament

51DsVROS9PL._SX258_BO1,204,203,200_-2

Type: Video

Number of sessions: 5

Description:  We all live in a constant state of denial. Culture tells us all problems are solvable, or at least manageable; we simply need to try (or buy) the right solution. Our self-help, pop-a-pill culture is prone to masking symptoms and calling that mask a cure. But as long as we deny our pain, we lose the danger of the Gospel the part where we give up control and allow God s mystery to unfold in our lives and in doing so, we lose the depth of its goodness. In Psalmist s Cry, Walter Brueggemann explores Psalms as scripts for lament guides for how to express feelings honestly, in ways normally not permitted or expected within Christian community. In this 5-week study, discover the fullness of God when we allow our lives to become about him healing us and not about us controlling or managing our way through life.
